Prevention of Oil Spillage Through Cargo Pumproom Sea Valves

The first edition of this guide was published in 1976 following extensive investigations into the causes of spillages through cargo pumproom sea valves.

Since then, oil tanker construction and operating practices have undergone significant changes brought about particularly by the entry into force of MARPOL 73/78.

This second edition is the result of a detailed study of the causes of oil spillages, and includes a number of recommendations to minimise the frequency of future spillages.
