About the Author

Malcolm Riley (Mal) travelled the world as a child with English parents who could not settle.

Voyages through the Panama and Suez canals and around the Cape of Good Hope. One of the ships was the Fairsky a converted WW2 aircraft carrier. As a youth he joined the Royal Australian navy serving on HMAS Melbourne the aircraft carrier and HMAS Diamantina. he worked in the Bureau of meteorology for 34 years. he is one of the skippers of the replica lady nelson and helps out with the Tall Ships Races in the Northern Hemisphere. He has voyages on many different Tall Ships and lives in Hobart.
