The Garbage Record Book is split into two parts: Part 1: Relevant for all ships Part 2: Relevant only to ships carrying solid bulk cargoes.
This updated Garbage Record Book is to be used on board vessels to record discharges from ships and incinerations on board ships.
In accordance with regulation 10 of Annex V of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the Protocol of 1978 (MARPOL), a record is to be kept of each discharge operation or completed incineration. This includes discharges into the sea, to reception facilities, or to other ships, as well as the accidental loss of garbage. Includes new category for electronic waste (e-waste).
The updated rules shall enter into force on the 1 March 2018.
