Fundamental Navigation And Safety Training – Navathome

$125.00 GST

The NAVatHOME Australia Fundamental Skipper Course is an entry level course on inshore navigation, and basic seamanship and boat handling. It covers the fundamental skills to understand navigation and safety on the water and looks at skills that are more appropriate for small yachts, and motor cruisers. It is similar to the RYA Essential Navigation course, however it is designed for waters around Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, and focuses on local weather patterns, and navigation sources.

Unique to this course is an online routing page so you can start to put together the concepts of planning your route. It will allow you to draw your route in, and assess your route with feedback on any specific areas of concern.

And unlike many other online training programs, our online Fundamental Navigation course uses actual Australia navigation charts and tidal tables. You are not just using fictional materials, but actual navigation sources that you would use in the real world. Our weather guidance is focused on weather patterns around Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, based on reports from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (The BOM).

This course will start helping you with your vessel and navigation questions, and help you to consider the broader situation in an easy to follow and fun way. It is a great starting course for anyone stepping onto a keel boat and being uncomfortable at the though of navigation.

Who is this course for?
Navigation training will be done using a training chart that is extracted from Australian Navigation chart AUS252 which covers the Whitsunday Islands. You can go straight from our course to Airlie Beach, and you will already feel like part are familiar to you.
