Shipbuilding and Repair Quality Standard (Rec.47) (2025)

$67.50 GST

This publication sets quality standards for hull structures during ship construction and repair when no recognised national or shipbuilding standards apply.
It mainly covers conventional merchant vessels with standard or high-strength hull steel, subject to Classification Society approval. It excludes special ship types and non-standard materials.
The standard defines both ‘Standard’ and ‘Limit’ ranges for workmanship. The ‘Standard’ range reflects expected outcomes under normal conditions, while the ‘Limit’ range indicates the maximum allowable deviation. Also provided are:
Guidelines for corrective actions when requirements are not met
detailed standards for construction practices, welding, alignment and fabrication
specifications for gas cutting, joint details and material use
repair requirements including welding, materials and personnel qualifications
Classification Society approval needed for unlisted structural details or fabrication procedures.
Optimise this standard from IACS and ensure consistent quality and safe practices in shipbuilding for your vessels.
