RYA Day Skipper Theory

The RYA Day Skipper theory course is your gateway to adventure. Explore that island that you can only get to by boat, navigate to secluded bays through a narrow path either side of a reef. Master the art of being able to control your boat in local tidal conditions and work out exactly where you want to be at low tide.

It will improve your knowledge of seamanship, safety and coastal navigation and is recognised as a world class sailing and boating qualification. The skills in the Day Skipper Course are the skills to successfully complete further RYA courses.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for both power and sailing craft and it will give you the knowledge to handle short passages by day. This course covers all the shorebased theory for the RYA Day Skipper Practical course. The completion of the RYA Day Skipper theory and RYA Day Skipper Practical entitles you to the ICC or International Certificate of Competency which is what you need to charter a yacht in Europe or cruise the Mediterranean.

The RYA Day skipper course is one of Australia’s best online sailing and motoring courses. It is foundation of the RYA Yachtmaster program with a strong baseline in knowledge and skills that you can use anywhere.

Course Prerequisites:

This level course does require some degree of boating knowledge to start. Ideally you would have spent some time on the water crewing for someone of even skippering your own boat mastering the elementary parts.The following course options are great starting course leading into the Day Skipper Program but are not essential. If you want to, you can jump straight into Day Skipper.
