A Changing Tide: The History of Berrys Bay

$39.95 GST

by Randi Svensen

Berrys Bay has had, as they say, ‘a colourful past’.

First occupied by the Cammeraygal people, it then became part of a Crown grant to the eccentric Billy Blue. In the 1820s, Alexander Berry established wharves and a store there, setting the tone for what was to come: a whaling station, coaling depot, oil depot, timer yard, quarry, torpedo station and a distillery.

But it was as a hub for boatbuilding that the bay is best known throughout its history – a far cry from the Berrys Bay of today.
